DEDICATION

This historic mission of the Cantors Assembly, an International Organization, is dedicating this concert and all the events programmed the week of June 29 through July 5 to the memory of over thirteen hundred professional cantors who were exterminated by the Nazis during the SHOAH. Most of them were from the Polish lands and were nurtured in our noble tradition that for one thousand years found its home in Poland. We mourn the loss of their lives and of their art and talent. We are here to reaffirm their contributions to Jewish life and culture. We are here to help encourage those in Poland who are involved in Jewish revival and those Jews and non-Jews who value Jewish culture as part of the Jewish and Polish narrative. We are here helping to fulfill the message of Pope John Paul II and model his example of brotherhood, friendship, and unity amongst human beings. We are here for the 20th anniversary of the rebirth of the Polish Republic. We are here to celebrate the friendship between Poland, Israel, and the United States of America, countries that value democratic values. We are here, and in the words of the psalmist; “Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity…”
