Gosia Baczyńska


   Fashion designer, a graduate of the ceramic and glass design department of Wrocław's Academy of Fine Arts. The monthly Home&Market has hailed her as one of the most influential fashion designers and one of the most influential women in Poland. She gained her first professional experience as an assistant costume designer, then in London at a company working with leading British designers. She has had her own business, Fri.13.08, since 1997, designing under her own label. She showcased her first original collection in 2000 in Wrocław. Since then, she has created seven more, each highly acclaimed by critics and stars. Gosia Baczyńska's style is a blend of excellence and nonchalance. Her collections have been presented by the best Polish models, but also the world's catwalk stars. She designed the costumes for the opera Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy directed by Marek Weiss-Grzesiński, which premiered in 2006.

   She was invited in 2008 to work with Reserved, a leading Polish clothing company, creating the limited collection Le Carousel - Gosia Baczyńska for Reserved, which won her an award in Twój Styl magazine's Fashion Excellence competition. She has been living and working in Warsaw since 2002. Her first boutique opened in mid-2009 on the border between the old and new Praga district in Warsaw, in Floriańska Street. This is also where the designer has her studio where she creates unique projects. She is the winner of numerous awards: nominated by Elle monthly in 2003, she was a prize-winner in the Trendy Elle (Designer of the Year) competition twice (2004 - editors' special prize; 2005 - Designer of the Year). She has also been named the best designer of the year by the magazines Activist (2005), Fashion Magazine (2008), Twój Styl (2008), while A4 magazine presented her with its Golden Icon award (2006). In 2003 in Lisbon, she represented Poland at the accession gala celebrating the enlargement of the European Union.

   At the Polish National Opera, she and Tomasz Ossoliński prepared the costumes for Verdi's Traviata directed by Mariusz Treliński (2010).
