Assistant of choreographer Ed Wubbe

   Born in 1978 in Amsterdam. Marlies finished her ballet education at the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam in 1997. Right away she joined Scapino Ballet Rotterdam from 1997 until 2008. Her interest has always resided around contemporary choreography. Her more recent repertoire includes many original works such as:  Rosary (Ed Wubbe, 2004), Four for Nothing (Amanda Miller, 2004), Paramount (Ed Wubbe, 2005), Geekspeak (Stephen Shropshire, 2006), Drowning Lesson (Jaakko Toivonen, 2006), Hold Fast (André Gingras, 2007), Les Gens du coin (Christophe Garcia, 2007), and A Porte fermée (Loïc Perela, 2008). During her years in the Scapino Ballet she traveled to the following countries: Indonesia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and the United States. Since 2008 she has been the assistant of choreographer Ed Wubbe who is the director of the Scapino Ballet. Together they have traveled as guest choreographers to several companies and schools around Holland, the United States, Canada, England, and now Poland. Beyond dance she has also been working as a physical therapist for the past five years and recently began studying nutrition.
